
The spine thicknesses had to be approximately the same so that the letters could be separated in the horizontal centre of each volume. But "Nocturne" has almost twice as many pictures. To compensate this, papers with very different characteristics were chosen. "Nuances" is printed on the high-volume Salzer EOS 90g/sqm paper. This makes the book relatively light, appropriate to the graceful poses of the dancers. "Nocturne", on the other hand, is printed on a low-volume image printing paper, which is heavier but thinner. Combined with the higher number of pages, "Nocturne" weighs almost twice as much. A great effect is created when you hold both volumes in your hands and the difference in weight becomes clear.
There is no classic endpaper to provide a direct introduction to Alwin Maigler's work from the very first page. The book block is therefore glued directly to the book case.
